America250 Reopens America's Startup Competition for Student Entrepreneurs

College and trade school students can apply through October 8 for a national America250 entrepreneurship competition.

America250 has reopened America's Startup, a national competition offering undergraduate entrepreneurs and early-stage innovators opportunities for funding, mentorship, and a live pitch experience in Washington, D.C.

Story

America250 is once again inviting student entrepreneurs from across the country to share their ideas through America's Startup, a national competition created to support the next generation of American innovators.

The fall 2026 application period opened August 17 and continues through October 8. The competition is open to undergraduate students, or the equivalent, enrolled at accredited colleges, universities, and trade schools in the United States.

Students may apply individually or in teams of up to five participants with an early-stage business idea, concept, or venture in any industry. Applicants will submit a written proposal along with a short pitch video outlining their idea and its potential.

America250 says the expanded fall competition includes more than $1 million in total prizes and support. Thirty semifinalist teams will be invited to Washington, D.C. for a live pitch weekend in December, along with opportunities for mentorship and networking with business leaders and investors.

Ten finalist teams will each receive $25,000 in non-dilutive grant funding, meaning recipients do not give up ownership in their businesses. Three grand-prize winners will receive an additional $25,000, bringing their total award to $50,000 per team.

America's Startup is part of the broader America250 commemoration and is intended to highlight innovation, entrepreneurship, and the ideas that may help shape the country's next chapter.

Students from Sumner County who are currently attending an eligible college, university, or trade school are encouraged to review the official eligibility requirements and application information before the October 8 deadline.
